Inspire Dental of Maine
Portland, Maine · with M.W. Hoss Construction
The challenge
Renovate a 5,000 sq ft dental office that had to keep seeing patients throughout.
What Mash installed
Phased HVAC, ventilation and controls installed area by area.
What made it difficult
Every phase needed a temporary but code-compliant air setup before the next area could be opened.
The outcome
A fully modernized system with the practice open every business day of the project.

Project Overview
This 5,000-square-foot renovation modernized an existing dental office in Portland while the practice stayed open. M.W. Hoss Construction built the job on a three-phase schedule: one side of the office was renovated first, patients and staff then moved into the finished space, and work continued on the remaining phases so patient care never stopped.
Mash Mechanical delivered the mechanical package on that same phased schedule. Heating, cooling and ventilation were rebuilt zone by zone, with temporary tie-ins so the occupied half of the office stayed conditioned throughout. Operatories were given quiet, evenly distributed air, and sterilization and lab spaces received dedicated exhaust.
Scope of Work
- • Phased HVAC replacement across three construction stages
- • Zoned heating and cooling for operatories and admin areas
- • Ventilation and exhaust for sterilization and lab spaces
- • Quiet, low-velocity air delivery in treatment rooms
- • Temporary tie-ins to keep the practice operational
- • Controls, test-and-balance, startup and commissioning
