Project Overview
Sacred Profane transformed an old automotive shop in Biddeford into a fully operational two-story brewery with a full-service restaurant. The centerpiece is a first-of-its-kind Czech brewing system, installed in an open taproom where the equipment is on display rather than hidden away. Built with M.W. Hoss Construction and designed by Grant Hays Associates, the renovation kept the building's industrial character while adding modern brewing and dining functionality.
Mash Mechanical delivered the mechanical, refrigeration and process cooling package. Brewing generates heat, steam and humidity, and a restaurant kitchen adds its own load — so ventilation, make-up air and cooling were designed together to keep the brewhouse workable, the cellar at temperature and the taproom comfortable. Glycol cooling serves the fermentation tanks and cold storage, with piping routed to stay clean and intentional in the exposed space.
